Last Saturday was great! 5th Coy Primers participated in the football tournament at the Inter-polytechnic Olympic Day (IPOD). I feel that this year's team was much stronger than last year's. This time, not only are we able to better our performance last year, but we even managed to win the competition! The amazing thing is, we only scored TWO goals in the entire tournament. In the group stage, the first two games ended in a stalemate. When it comes to the last game in the group stage, we had to secure a win to even stand a chance to qualify for the semi-finals. All seemed lost when we were still held 0-0 at the final minute of the game. In the dying seconds, Fredrick blast a left-footed shoot straight into the roof of the net. 1-0, we qualified with 5 points. In the semi-finals, again we won by a scoreline of 1-0, courtesy of Shan Bin's individual run down the left flank, before cutting in and sending a curling shot to the far end of the 'keeper's goal. The finals was exciting, with both team venturing forward to search for goals. But, a pity, the game ended in another stalemate. So it had to be decided by a penalty shootout. And yup, we won the penalty shootout 2-1 and won the tournament. I felt that we deserve the win. After all, the better team won.
